Nancy was a very strong candidate, really deserved to win and had a really strong campaign message around local issues and post offices.  Further, the Conservative Party threw everything at this election and had a very poor result making no in-roads on this seat.  Everyone agreed that if the Conservatives were to try and win the Hampstead and Kilburn constituency then they need to be challenging in this seat.  In fact they struggled to beat Labour into third place.

Ed Fordham said "This is a great result for the Liberal Democrats, for Nancy herself and for local residents.  Nancy will continue the hard work of Jane Schopflin who's sadly passed away at Christmas.  Working with Cllr Flick Rea and Cllr Russell Eagling she will be great part of the local Lib Dem team."

The result confims that the Liberal Democrats are on target to win the Hampstead and Kilburn constituency from Labour at the next General Election.

Local Post Office closure hit list revealed

Residents in Hampstead and Kilburn are in shock after the Ham&High newspaper revealed that several local Post Offices are on a secret closure list.

The Royal Mail is expected to propose on Tuesday that Post Offices in South End Green, England's Lane and Child's Hill should shut down.  This confirms the worse fears of hundreds of local residents who have supported the local Liberal Democrat campaign to Save our Post Offices.

Local LibDem campaigner Ed Fordham says, 'This is a really big deal for local people, particular the elderly who rely on a Post Office within walking distance.  I am shocked and angry that our area is going to be hit so hard.

Unlike the Labour Government, Liberal Democrats understand the importance of village Post Offices to our local communities.  We will keep fighting to get the Government to reverse their centralised closure plan and keep our Post Offices open.'
