Ed Fordham wrote to Glenda Jackson in January 2009 asking for her participating in the Coroners and Justice BillA study of MPs’ work has shown that Glenda Jackson is London’s least active MP. Excluding votes, Parliament’s official record shows her appearing just 40 times in the four-and-a-half years since the last election – 10 of her 40 contributions were made in just one debate.

Local Lib Dem MP, Sarah Teather, has been far more active than her Labour counterpart since the last election. “Sarah Teather’s tally of 2542 appearances in debates, questions and

committees exposes Glenda’s poor record,” said Ed Fordham. “Local people will be asking what exactly their Labour MP does for them.”

The Labour MP also has a very low voting record – since 2005 she has voted on less than 50% of occasions. “People in the new seat of Hampstead and Kilburn deserve an active champion,” said challenger, Ed Fordham. “Ms Jackson’s record shows that she simply isn’t doing the job people expect of her.”

“We need a person who is active in the community and active in Parliament. I am passionate about local issues and achieving results. It’s frustrating that our Labour MP doesn’t see the role in that way.”
